We Need Your Help!!

As you all probably already know, Colonel Allan Carroll of the Corps of Engineers issued a preliminary decision to deny the 404 permit Newport News needs to build the King William Reservoir.

Well, since that time Newport News has aligned the support of Governor Gilmore and Senator Warner and is trying to use brute political force to make the Corps overturn Colonel Carroll's decision. Our battle to stop this destructive project has definately heated up and now we need your help more than ever.

I have enclosed a sample letter with the names and addresses of the key players in this situation for your review. We need you to send a letter expressing your concern regarding these tactics to these individuals. Feel free to photocopy and use the enclosed letter or draft one of your own. Either way, we need each of these individuals to receive a letter from you as soon as possible. Also, I would like to ask for you to photocopy this letter and give it to a minimum of five indian for them to send. If you can do this the politicians will have no choice but to listen.

I want to personally thank all of you for your past and continued support of the Mattaponi Tribe during this very trying time. It is because of you that we have achieved so much thus far.

As I now everyone's time is extremely valuable I would like to thank you for taking the time to send these letters and your efforts to help the Mattaponi Tribe protect our culture, our heritage and our environment for all future generations.
