owl could you give me any tips on how to go about finding my family? all i know is his name, date of birth, and date of death, he was born i tulsa OK. he was adopted to a white man when he was about 6 yrs old, by a white man. my mother said he wouldnt talk much about his past i guess he was trumatized by what happened, any help would be appreciated.

my grandfathers name was john william henry harrison, he was born in 1870, and died in 1963, according to my mothers birth certificate he was born in tulsa OK, his parents were killed on a resorvation when he was about 6 yrs old, he and his twin sisters survived, and were adopted out. he was adopted by a william harrison was my understanding. if you can help me please contact me at this email address thank you.

My great, great grandmother was a full-blooded Cherokee. I haven't done any research on my ancestors yet but I would love to someday. I am proud of my Native American heritage, on my mother's side of the family, and am greatly saddened at how they were treated by our country's government. It is truly a great shame.

I just found your web site and truly enjoyed reading about the things that the Native Americans are doing. I was born in Cape Charles and called that home until graduatioin from college following WWII. Though I don't get back there very often, I still have strong feelings about the area. I am a third grader at Northwestern Elementary School in Mardela Springs, Md. I am here to work on a book report of a tribe of indians of my choice. So I choose the Assateague Indians... Thanks for the chance to learn a lot of interesting facts and helping me with my book report.

I was introduced by Quiet Storm who I met over the internet through a common interest in barrier island working decoys and their makers. The site is beautiful and very thought provoking.. almost as I expected from my limited contact with Quiet Storm. I have another reason now to love the Assateague and Chincoteague and other barrier islands.
